Ford Field Where the Detroit Lions Restore the Roar
Ford Field. Home of the Detroit Lions and the rebirth of the Downtown. The Lions began playing in their new home in 2002 after a $500 million dollar renovation of the old Hudson Mall in downtown Detroit.
The new home for the Lions replaced the Pontiac Silverdome which was used for many years for both football and basketball.
While primarily built for football, the multi-purpose facility has been host to many basketball and hockey games. The NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four semi-regionals took place here in April 2008 and it will be the host for the Final Four in April, 2009. The NCAA Frozen Four in 2010 will be hosted at Ford Field as well.
Wrestlemania, the MHSAA and the newly formed All-American Football League (AAFL)also use this facility for sporting events for regular season and championship games.
