NFC East. The Conference with the 'Boys, the 'Skins, Brotherly Love and the Super Bowl Champs
The NFC East conference, the toughest conference in the NFL.
Washington got the 2008 preseason kicked off as the winner of the Hall of Fame Game at Fawcett Stadium. A 30-16 win of the Indy Colts, there were many good points that the Redskins can take home with them. The most impressive stat to me was 2-3 in the redzone, Colt Brennan with two TD passes, very few dropped passes by the receivers, and the two running backs averaging 5.0 yards a carry. Areas for impovement? SPECIAL TEAMS!!! 29 yards allowed on a punt return, and anywhere from 23-51 yards allowed by the kickoff teams. Oh well, now is the time to fix the issues that your team has.
The Cowboys win the division, only to lose at home to the wild card New York Giants. The Giants go on to record one of the most remarkable playoff runs in NFL history, and come home with the Lombardi Trophy after one of the greatest Super Bowls of all. It has to rank right up there with Joe Namath making his prediction to win back in Super Bowl III and then had the victory to prove it.
So how does the conference look this year for 2008? Dallas has to be considered the favorite, as their amount of talent looks superior compared to the other teams, but a lot could go wrong with the chemistry. Washington just added Jason Taylor, but there are question marks in several areas. Philly, will McNabb stay healthy? He still is the leader of the Eagles. The Giants will have a good year, but I don't think they can repeat the team chemistry that took them 4-0 in January/February. But time will tell.
