The NFC South. Home to the conference with the heat and Humidity

How about the NFC South conference? Where the Southeastern heat takes its toll on the players and opponents alike. While last year the the conference sputtered in the end, there are some potential firecrackers of a team within the division.

Tampa is looking to be pretty strong, but there is too much drama with the QB situation. Will Chris Simms come back and perform, will Jeff Garcia end the drama with his contract issues, and at age 38, will he continue to be able to perform? And what about the rumors going on about a Brett Favre to Tampa Bay trade?

Carolina needs to find their groove again and keep their QB healthy. They have added some offensive linemen from botht the draft and off-season acquisitions. A good strong season and a win or two in the playoffs will be needed to keep the current coaching staff together, or someone will be on the hot seat. You can't go 11-5 in 2005 to 7-9 in two years and keep everything the same.

New Orleans had high expectations last year after an unbelievable 2006 season, and floundered big time. Deuce was hurt and the team never recovered. Deuce is the backbone of the Saints, and he needs to stay healthy. Unfortunately he is a bruising runner, and he is willing to give the hit just as quickly as he is the subject of some hard hits. Reggie Bush needs to break out, and Drew Brees needs some positive air time to his receivers.

Atlanta has a lot on their plate. After one of the most embarrassing seasons away from the field last year, including having their coach show no spine and quit on a team, they have drafted a great prospect QB in Matt Ryan, and have made some changes that should help them. Time will tell, the jury is still out on this team.
