The Charger fans have been gathering for many years to watch the dominating team with their lightning quick running back take the team to the end zone at any given moment. Opened in 1967, the stadium has been a part of the sports franchise for many years as it was originally designed to accommodate the Chargers and the San Diego Padres of the MLB franchise. The Padres have since moved to Petco Stadium, their own baseball park.
Qualcomm Stadium is also home to the local Division I collegiate team, the San Diego State Aztecs, and both the Poinsettia Bowl and the Holiday Bowl of the Collegiate I bowl series.
Qualcomm has hosted the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) High School athletic championship section finals. Qualcomm has been the host of several international soccer matches as well. Musical concerts, tryouts for American Idol, Moto X World Championships have been held at the "Q". Finally religious organizations have held conferences at the stadium, accommodating thousands for their respected organizations.
