Qwest Field. Where the Seattle Seahawks Soar to Success on Their Home Field
Qwest Field. Where the Seattle Seahawks and the pride of Washington State gathers to cheer on the Hawks. With such common Seattle area icons like Microsoft and Starbucks, the Hawks fit right in line with their fine stadium and fanatic fans.
The stadium was completed in 2002 as a replacement to the Kingdome. The co-founder of Microsoft and Seattle Seahawks owner Paul Allen assisted in the cost of the new facility, and other funds were raised to cover the additional costs.
The stadium was designed to excel their vocal fans to help draw false starts to the opposing teams. The plan has been a success, as the fans have had numerous teams commit errors in the snap counts and causing disruptions for quarterbacks trying to audible. Seattle even created a special notation on the scoreboard just to tally the amount of false starts that the opposition has committed. There are even metal stands and flooring so that the fans can make as much noise as possible at one of the end zones.
The facility also hosts Washington State High School Championship games, and is the neutral field for the intense in-state Division II schools Western Washington vs. Central Washington football programs.
