Week 6
NFL Predictions

Week 6 is here, and the teams that are the cream of the crop are beginning to really seperate themselves from the rest.

First, a summary of Week 5. The Saints can't close a victory, and I blame that on their offense and coaching. Minnesota D was dominant last Monday night, although I admire Drew Brees' pep talk to the team before the game. Washington is the 3rd best team in the NFL at the moment. Titans and Giants are a bit stronger and looking better than the Skins, but don't discount the Skins as they come home and have a cupcake game this week. Baltimore almost, coulda, just about.... but still lost again. Atlanta beat the drama queen Packers, Giants roll, and Miami is looking a lot better this year. Jacksonville needs a heart to win, but they appear to be the Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz at the moment. Indy is weak, very weak. Yeah I know, they won, but Houston had it and gave it away.....

My brother put me up to the task of seeing how good I really am at predicting the games. So to answer the challenge of my brother, last week I went 8-6; a poor showing in my opinion, but it is above .500 in predictions. I was very disappointed with the Saints and the Texans as I thought they would have won their respective games. Arizona surprised me while dominating the previously undefeated Bills.

So Week 6 brings some interesting games but nothing too spectacular. The teams that are off this week are: Buffalo Bills, Tennessee Titans, Kansas City Chiefs and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The best two games in my opinion will be the Pats at the Chargers and Dallas in the Desert facing the Cards. Carolina at the Bucs could be interesting if the Bucs show up. We'll see. So let's get to the Week 6 GameDay predictions.

Chicago Bears @ Atlanta Falcons
This will be interesting. If you think Chicago has turned the corner with the victory over Detroit last week, forget about it. Chi-towns' second string is stronger than Detroit's starting unit. Atlanta is playing tough, winning on the road at GB last week. And now they are at home. Ryan does get rattled with good defenses, and Chi-town does have some Monsters of the Midway on their team. In a tough one where a turnover will make or break this game......
Chicago 17 Birds 13

Baltimore Ravens @ Indianapolis Colts
The Colts won because of their defense and Houston falling apart on offense during the last 5 minutes of the game last week. The offense is not clicking at all, and the Colts have yet to win in their new home stadium. Flacco is learning some tough, hard knock lessons against some very good NFL teams the past two weeks, losing a close one last week to the Titans and in OT to Steelers the week before that. But Flacco is learning fast, while Peyton seems confused this year. Indy should win this one on paper, but paper doesn't score. Upset of the Week for Week 6....
Ravens 24 Colts 21

Detroit Lions @ Minnesota Vikings
YYYYYAAAAWWWWNNNNNNN............. The Lions have only had a lead for 2:24 all season. Please lose so that we can get the #1 draft pick and trade it off for some defensive lineman. PLEASE!
Vikings 31 Lions 10

Oakland Raiders @ New Orleans Saints
How will the "new" Raiders without Lane Kiffin perform? Will the Saints get some holes for Deuce to run through? Yeah, Reggie was pretty impressive on special teams etc, but Deuce is still the Heartbeat of the Saints.
Saints 24 Oakland 19

Cincinnati @ New York Jets
I'm surprised Chad Johnson Ocho Cinco or whatever hasn't said he was going to kiss Brett Favre this week just to show the Bengal Management how unhappy he is in Cincy. Cincy played tough in Dallas last week, but Brett is a better passer than Romo. While Cincy has come close, it isn't there yet....
Jets 28 Bengals 18

Carolina Panthers @ Tampa Bay Bucs
This is a potentially good one here. The Bucs let the altitude of the Broncos choke them last week, but they are home now. The Panthers are looking strong at 4-1. Turnovers will determine this one, and the team that commits the turnover in the middle of the 4th quarter will walk away with their heads hanging low. GameDay Game of the Week for Week 6
Panthers 21 Bucs 19

St. Louis Rams @ Washington Redskins
YAWN #2.... Boring game on tap here, unless you are a Skins fan and enjoy your team winning by 30+ points. Then you will love this game. Week 6 blow out game right here.
Skins 41 Rams 10

Miami Dolphins @ Houston Texans
Houston has every game in October being played at home. But the Fins have looked good the last two games regardless of where they had to play. And what is up with that trick offense that the Fins have been executing. Does it really matter? It scores points.... The Texans will win soon, but not this week. The Lions are coming to town and the Texans will win that game.
Dolphins 24 Texans 14

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Denver Broncos
The Jaguars need some soul searching. They are an 8-8 team right now and, at best, a wild card nomination for the playoffs. They do not dominate teams, and they have some serious question marks on defense. The Broncos will win this one thanks to the thin air up there.....
Broncos 27 Jags 20

Dallas Cowboys @ Arizona Cardinals
This is a big game for both teams. Just when I thought the Cards were going to flounder after Brett through for 4 million yards and 200,000 touchdowns against them, they beat the stew out of the previously undefeated Buffalo Bills. So go figure. The Cowboys let the Bengals hang around and didn't execute like a dominate winning team. So... Will the 'Boys of dominance show up and will the Cardinals from last week show up too? The Cowboys have better talent than the Cards so they should win it. We'll see.... Good game to watch. GameDay Upset of the Week #2 for Week 6
Cardinals 31 Cowboys 28

Philadelphia Eagles @ San Francisco 49ers
Philly sucks. McNabb can't throw a pass beyond 10 yards going North and South. He can throw it to Westbrook (who is out this week) for a screen pass, but that is the best that he can do. And what is up with the O-Line with only 2 yards to go for a touchdown? On third down, how about passing it to a Tight End or something? And the only emotion that Andy Reid wants to show for two weeks of blown opportunities is to put his hands over his head and close his eyes? Sad..... Mark my words here in Week 6.... Philly is in for a losing year, no playoffs, no nothing. Celler-dwellers this year. Philly offensive coaches are just as bad as St. Louis and Detroit Offensive Coaches. Nuff said. Reid will not last another year....
49ers 24 Eagles 21

Green Bay Packers @ Seattle Seahawks
YAWN #3. The Holmgren homecoming is worn out pretty thin now. Both in GB and in Seattle. Both teams are struggling, and this game really doesn't prove a thing for either team.
Packers 21 Hawks 17

New England Patriots @ San Diego Chargers
The Patriots have played with more consistancy than the Bolts have this year. The Bolts have been riding too much emotion and drama to play the Pats for 4 quarters and win this one. I expect the Pats to play with a level head throughout this game, and pull it off in the end.
Pats 31 Bolts 24

Week 6 Monday Night Football New York Giants @ Cleveland Browns While I admire the Dawgpound and their fans, I don't think the Cleveland D is strong enough to disrupt the Giants. The Giants haven't lost on the road since the first two weeks of last year, and they own one of the longest winning streaks on the road in the NFL. The Giants just get it done. There isn't anything fancy about them, they lose a receiver and some key defensive ends, and they just keep winning. Impressive. And the Pound will be impressed too by the end of the night.
Giants 27 Browns 16

Well, there it is. My Week 6 predictions. We'll see how well I did in a little bit. And the beat goes on.....
